Mozambique Casinos

[ English | Deutsch | Español | Français | Italiano ]

The relative scarcity in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense rather baffling, in one way or another.

In recent years, the city was a place where lots of South Africans would vacation to disappear from the astonishingly prohibitive rules on betting (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. Thus, you would think of somewhat of an expanding business to oblige that tourist trade.

However, perhaps it is not particularly a surprise. The city is certainly the most bankrupt world wide, having gone through a distressing civil war (followed by devastating floods) from which it is still, very slowly, rebounding. This is liable to make a spot less of a tourist prospect, although there is currently a favorable display along some of the state’s stunning beaches.

It is too valid that regionally to a certain extent, casinos in Mozambique have had to partake with many others in the freshly liberalized South Africa, which includes the notable Sun City founded by the Kerzner family establishment.

Here’s a list of Mozambique’s casinos:

Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel

There are seventy-eight slot machines as well as video poker games, 5 tables of American roulette, four blackjack tables, as well as one poker table.

Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino

There are forty slot machines, American roulette, and two tables for poker and also punto banco.

It is thought that over time the whole tourism sector in Mozambique will flourish efficaciously. While the local languages are, of course, African, there is added to that the portion of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the fresh and escalating origin of English, both from South Africa and as part of the world-wide phenomenon. The country is particularly cheap (naturally, as it is very poor) and as above, has some of the most captivating beaches across the globe, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the class of assets that make tourism representatives drool, and as the country advances out of its arrived at slump, it is likely that not only will tourism build, but that the list of casinos in Mozambique will grow longer also.

While the country is not expected to ever replenish its reputation as a spot for partying South Africans, as there are now other picks closer to home for them to indulge in, the expansion of a long distance tourism business is being outlined. This would be to cater to Europeans bargaining on winter sun, as a break from the blues of the Northern Hemisphere winter. And, evidently, the best prawns (shrimp) worldwide are just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
