Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling den gambling is illegal. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; still, financing sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel compound that contains a number of comforts aside from the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight table games.
