[ English ]

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is not legal. Eight casinos are based in a generally tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, financing sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are allegedly required to cross, there are methods around this, as is correct of most border crossings.
